Hospice Hero

The Hospice Hero program recognizes and celebrates the incredible work of hospice caregivers who are making a difference in their communities. Every week, we acknowledge a new hospice caregiver who has gone above and beyond in their work. We are proud to honor these heroes and shine a light on the important work they do every day.

A Day on the Field!

We were thrilled to host our Hospice Heroes for an unforgettable day at Minute Maid Park, cheering on King Tuck and his teammates. We are grateful to Tito's Vodka for their generous sponsorship, which allowed us to provide our heroes with a suite experience, making this day even more special!

Hospice Hero of the Week

Sara Booth, RN

Sara Booth, RN, is a staple around the halls of the Houston Hospice inpatient unit in the Texas Medical Center – she’s been a nurse here for 21 years! Sara “retired” from her position as charge nurse two years ago and started her nursing career in 1972. Hospice is Sara’s second family, and you’ll still find her picking up a couple of shifts each week because she truly enjoys her patients, families, and colleagues.

“I try to provide the same loving and compassionate physical care and emotional support for my patients that my family received when my dad made his final journey home,” said Sara. “As a hospice nurse, I try to make the final transition from this life to the next as peaceful and calm as possible while still providing comfort and dignity to my patients.”

Sara’s colleagues draw on her expertise and creative problem-solving skills. “Her presence is very calming,” said Najja Williams, RN and patient care manager at Houston Hospice. “A day when Sara is working is going to be a good day.”
